We would like to remember our past principals with a great hounor at this occation beacause their dedication and service towards our school name is priceless. We should be greatfull to them for bringing our school to where it is today.
Rev. George Erskine was born in Tyrone, Ireland, in 1781 and in 1809 he entered the Methodist Church as a priest. He was one of the pioneer Wesleyan Methodist missionaries who came to Sri Lanka on June 29, 1814 to propagation of Methodism. He was the founder of the Matara Methodist School. He commenced the English school at the Dutch Church located in the Dutch Fort in Matara on August 07, 1814. Then he had returned to Galle due to illness and was in-charge of the Galle school (Presently known as Richmond College) He left the island in 1821 and moved to Australia. On March 2, 1823, he married to Lyda McDowell. He died on April 24, 1834, at his home “Erskinevilla”. He was a father of seven children with four sons & three daughters.
